The Remarkable Legacy of Frank Oliver: How Ottawa Civic Hospital Nurses Benefit from the Community Foundation of Ottawa

Frank Oliver was a Canadian politician and journalist who made a significant impact on the social and political landscape of Canada in the early 20th century. Born in 1853 in Ontario, Oliver was a strong advocate for social justice and played a key role in shaping Canadian policies towards Indigenous people. But his legacy also extends to the Ottawa Civic Hospital and the nurses who have benefited from the Community Foundation of Ottawa. Oliver was elected to the House of Commons in 1887 and was appointed Minister of the Interior in 1896. During his time in office, he worked to advance the interests of Indigenous people and championed the Indian Act of 1906. He also played a significant role in the establishment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
